Small octavo, xii, 316 pages plus 12 'illustrations by Fr. Overbeck, reproduced in permanent photography' (these Woodburytypes, of significant religious events, are approximately 60 × 77 mm each).

Gilt-pictorial cloth, all edges gilt; covers slightly marked and rubbed, with minimal wear to the extremities; contemporary prize inscription on the front pastedown (with the recipient's name ruled out); thin acidic card on which the plates are mounted is uniformly discoloured to a pale grey; frontispiece mount and title page slightly affected by an acidic tissue-guard (no longer present); an excellent copy.
