Item #105933 Anzac Memorial Day 25th April 1919 [cover title]

Anzac Memorial Day 25th April 1919 [cover title]

Melbourne, Victorian Branch of the Returned Sailors' and Soldiers' Imperial League of Australia, 1919.

Quarto, [12] pages including the colour pictorial wrappers; 7 pages, including the inside front wrapper, contain 42 illustrations (from photographs).

Wrappers; a fine copy.

A sobering souvenir of the first post-war Anzac Day celebrated in Melbourne. The two-page introduction by G.R. Palmer, Victorian President of the RSSILA, tends not to gild the lily either: 'To-day we are at peace, or at least such a peace as can be made when a Nation has been shattered and broken from within, as is the case of unhappy Russia'.
