One of only 25 copies. The note printed on the verso of the second page sets the scene: although, in 1837, Mudie printed 'The Felonry of New South Wales', 'he did not venture to publish it, because of the libels with which it abounded. The work was privately distributed, and if for no other reason it would be remembered for the sensational horsewhipping it procured for its author'.
